Upon trolling through the absurd amount of data given to us by the Revival label’s Felton Williams, we came across an unprecedented amount of documentation about the early days of his company. Everything from purchases to contract negotiations to stock sale were jotted down in a notebook for posterity, allowing us to really get under his fingernails in a way not usually possible with most tiny companies.
It occurred to me that five years into Numero we’re sorely lacking in similar documentation about the on-goings of our little operation. We have meetings, but there are no minutes taken. We’ve made 30 records but couldn’t tell you how they were made in any detail. Things happen and are promptly addressed or forgotten. The natural ebb and flow of a record label is to constantly look forward, not back. But as we are a company dedicated to looking back, it might be nice for you future historians to have a glimpse into the inter-workings of our past should we all perish in a van accident.
With that said, this blog is an attempt at capturing the excruciating minutia of everyday existence at the Numero Group. As it happens, we’ll report it. Just like Felton did back in 1967. Check it out:
