To commemorate the release of 032 Syl Johnson: Complete Mythology today, we’ve made a special all-Syl edition of Living Liner Notes. Tracked during one of our many Syl sessions in office, this third edition gives a real sense of the septuagenarian’s personality, providing a little window into what he last four years have sounded like for us.

Two podcasts in one month? We can’t believe it either, and yet despite having Renaldo Domino as a guest on our first we felt there was much room for improvement. Living Liner Notes 002 finds us delving deep into the Lowlands tape vault, listening to a dozen+ songs that didn’t make Local Customs: Lone Star Lowlands or the bonus Lizard disc and giving as much background on them as we could. Some are even calling it our best effort yet.

After threatening to do a podcast for nearly two years, intern Leigh gets it done in his third week. We grappled with what the subject for this inaugural podcast should be, but when Renaldo Domino came by to sign a few contracts last week and talk about his upcoming gig at the Brooklyn Soul Festival it was settled.
