GET OUT MUCH?

Well in the event that you don’t (get out that much) and just happen to live in the New York City or St. Louis metropolitan areas, we have two can’t miss shows for you to attend:

Eula Cooper will be performing live in NYC for the first time ever for the Dig Deeper monthly party in Brooklyn next Saturday [the 22nd].

From the Dig Deeper Myspace page:

Dig Deeper is a monthly 60’s Soul Party in Ft. Greene, Brooklyn at the Five Spot Soul Food Supper Club (459 Myrtle Ave). Hosted by Mr. Robinson and DJ Honky, on the fourth Saturday of the month, with the dancefloor primed with the finest funk and soul records anywhere in the world from their collections and a live performance each month at midnight from a legendary soul / funk artist that we particularly treasure.

We’ve got another great Dig Deeper exclusive in store for our Saturday, November 22 night – we are personally flying in Atlanta, Georgia soul star EULA COOPER for her first live performance ever in NYC, and her first solo performance anywhere in over a decade – this time backed by the Sweet Divines and the Divine Soul Rhythm Band.

Eula Cooper is well-known to those of you in the northern soul scene for her classic 45s released on small, local Atlanta labels – “Let Our Love Grow Higher” on Super Sound and “Try” on Tragar. Sadly, aside from touring heavily on the college, hotel, and club circuit in the south, Eula never saw much financial reward from her recordings. Eula’s story is unfortunately all too common the more you dig into the history of soul music. This is why we started our night in the first place – as a way to present some of the artists we love in a rare live performance, in hopes that they will get some of the notice that they missed over the course of their career. Plus, we love great live music!

If you haven’t already, you should check out the Numero Group’s excellent compilation of the Tragar and Note labels. Many thanks to Numero for putting us in touch with Eula!

Advance tickets are $10 (tickets will be $15 at the door if we have not sold out), and can be purchased here:

And for those residing near the St. Louis area:
