Mythological 45s

If there was one complaint we heard about Syl Johnson’s massive 6LP/4CD overview Complete Mythology, it was its lack of portability. At 6.5 pounds, it doesn’t travel well between DJ gigs. And with a dozen previously unreleased undeniable floor fillers, it wasn’t long before folks began clamoring for a handful of these tunes on the compact 45 format.

Sprawled across five 45s and wrapped in a custom Syl Johnson kraft tape,  the 10 songs packaged within cover a range of black music styles. From the uptempo northern sound of “Do You Know What Love Is” to the work out funk of “Right On,” this limited edition singles box is an instant party starter.

Track list:

“Do You Know What Love Is” b/w “The Love I Found in You”

“My Funky Band” b/w “Sockin’ Soul Power”

“Double Whammy” b/w “Wiggle In Your Hips”

“Right On” b/w “Pt. 2”

“Try My Love Again” b/w “All I Need Is Someone Like You”

Some of you might be saying, “I own all these songs, why should I shell out $30 for them again?” Fair question, indeed. We didn’t have the casual consumer in mind when we dreamed up this limited-to-1500 copies singles set. We were actually more concerned with our DJ boxes, and how awesome it would be if we could play “Right On” out.

Where were we? Oh right, you. To commemorate you spending $30 on music you already have (this is borderline hoarding, BTW), we’ve minted a commemorative (see what we did there?) coin depicting Syl Johnson’s bad ass self on one side, and the Numero logo on the other. It obviously will look more coin-like than this:

Great for settling disputes, this limited-to-300 coin has no cash value, but is guaranteed to increase in value! Look at this graph we found for other commemorative coins that have dramatically risen in price:

So how do you get one? Just be one of the first 300 people to pre-order this set, and we’ll include it in your order. Be the envy of your peers and expand your absurd collecting habit into territory you never thought you’d cross into.

That’s too bad. I thought that was part of the reason for subscribing, was so as to not miss out on anything and get all the special goodies.

You’ve hardly missed out. There are plenty left, and you can use your 15% discount to get it for cheaper.
