Codeine: When I See The Sun Pre-Order
February 20, 2012, 10:57 am

We’ve been getting bombarded with emails wondering when the Codeine pre-order would be announced. Today is that day. First watch this:

All three albums will have subjected to our notoriously elaborate packaging and detailed liner notes, including essays by Sub Pop’s Jonathan Poneman, Love Child’s Alan Licht, and the Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd. The albums have been faithfully restored from the original masters, and are accompanied by a plethora of singles, demos, live recordings, and Peel sessions. Each album will be packaged as a double album with a CD of the same material. Additionally, an ultra deluxe box set of all three albums is available in a limited edition of 1000 copies. The box set features no additional tracks, but does come with a 5′ x 1′ fold out poster of the band’s complete discography and a tidy box that holds all three albums National Geographic-style.

The first 500 copies pre-ordered of When I See The Sun will also receive a bonus 7″, featuring two songs recorded live at TT the Bear’s Place in Boston by Bob Weston.

We’ve also made an ultra deluxe edition, limited to 100 copies, that comes with a Numero “Winner” t-shirt.

Pre-order now.

Projected ship date?

Comment by James

Ship date is first week of May.

Do the CDs come exactly as they would be if bought separately or are they just in slip cases?

Comment by nathan

The CDs are only available with the LPs, and they come in their own unique little pocket. There are no track list difference between the formats, or between the box set and the individual LPs.

Comment by numerogroup

This is probably a stupid question, but what brand of t-shirt are you using?

Comment by Tim Simmons

American Apparel.

So the $80 version comes with the “5′ x 1′ fold out poster of the band’s complete discography and a tidy box that holds all three albums National Geographic-style,” correct? I got a bit confused.

Comment by Alex

$80 gets you 6 lps, 3 cds, 3 booklets, a poster, a box, and a 7″.

Any chance the Peel Session version of Broken Hearted Wine can get squeezed on there? It’s so good.

Comment by Kev

As the single version of BHW is nearly identical, we opted for that version. Sadly, the Sub Pop John Peel Sessions compact disc—in all its hideous glory—will have to remain in your collection.

So this is not a part of the 2012 LP or CD sub? And if not, would a subscriber discount apply?

Comment by Fred J. Robertson

not part of the sub … you still get your discount

Comment by trevor gage

when do the LPs by them selves get released ?

Comment by trevor gage

May 22nd.

I wish Numero would bombard me, or just sent the occasional email, with announcements of releases. I’m a subscriber, a long time customer, and own every regular series and * series release – yet I received no notice that this set was ready for pre-order. (or even that it exists). I discovered it by checking the site regularly which I don’t care to do since it’s a poor site that’s hard to navigate. Seriously guys, how about a little marketing to your top customers at least?

“The box set features no additional tracks” ->
So why does the box set consist of 6 LP’s, when it will not feature any additional tracks?

Comment by Christoph

The box set contains no additional bonus tracks than what is found on our expanded 2LP sets. When I See The sun houses all three expanded albums in a shiny box, plus it contains a 5′ x 1′ fold out discography poster.

Comment by numerogroup

got you. thank you!

Comment by Christoph

this seems to have changed from “the first of may” to 6.19 now? bummer.

Comment by nonbondconnery

Is it possible for you to send the box set to Japan?”

Comment by hiro

We can send them anywhere in the world.

Comment by numerogroup

Would you be able to say where the LPs are being pressed, and also who is mastering this release?

Comment by Todd

Josh Bonati mastered the LPs, which are being pressed at United as I type.

Comment by numerogroup

will the cd’s be available separately?

Comment by kevin

We will not be making a separate CD edition.

Comment by numerogroup

yo !

is the CODEINE bonus 7″ still available in the box set ? can’t find the info anywhere. thanks for letting me know !

cheers from lausanne, switzerland !

Comment by Frederic

We have a handful of bonus singles laying around for those with nimble fingers…

Comment by numerogroup

Damn, maybe I should have ordered the box set from you instead of getting it through my local RS. I may have scored one of the bonus singles. In any case, great package !
