Renaldo Hideout

Named for the voice that was sweet like Domino sugar, Renaldo Domino will be performing this Saturday at Chicago’s beloved Hideout. Although proof of it does not exist on Youtube, Domino’s brisk rendition of Gloria Jones (popularized by Soft Cell)’s “Tainted Love,” has become a standard for the Twinight recording artist, and is worth the price of admission alone. Andre Williams will headline, and both artists will be backed by regional rhythm section Expo ’76, who proved more than capable of bolstering these mighty voices last September, when an unannounced mock-up of this show somehow materialized (documented here on By the Numbers) on a random Sunday.

Hi, when can we expect for the Numero Soul Revue to go abroad, cross Atlantic to Europe? It’s such a pain in the butt to see all those great artists only perform Stateside.

ESR overseas is highly unlikely. It’s just too expensive.
