Our second entry into the RSD2013 madness is a set of live Codeine recordings. We sorted through half a dozen board tapes on our path to When I See The Sun, and this 11/15/1993 stop at Lounge Ax supporting Mazzy Star was really special. David Grubbs sits in on guitar for two songs, Stephen Immerwahr sings a few lines of Sham 69’s “What About The Lonely” (we conveniently ripped it off for the album’s title). The LP has been pressed on both red (1000 copies) and black (1000 copies), and comes with an insert featuring Stephen’s musings and few choice bits of Lounge Ax ephemera provided by Sue Miller. It’s all housed in a gorgeous tip-on jacket designed by Henry Owings. The compact disc is limited to 1000, packaged in a digipack+slipcase, with the same notes and a replica Lounge Ax show calendar from November 1993.
