On Thursday December 5th, the Numero Group will gather with friends and fans to celebrate the anticipated release of Purple Snow: Forecasting the Minneapolis Sound. The official Minneapolis listening party will be held at the Depot Tavern, nestled snuggly beside the legendary nightclub, First Avenue (Quick History Lesson: First Avenue was once a Bus Station, the inspiration for its tenure as a 1970s nightclub called… The Depot). Attendees will be treated to an early look at Purple Snow’s complex packaging, which includes a hardbound book and replica studio jackets for each of the box set’s four LPs. Over the course of the evening, we’ll be listening to the sophisticated Minneapolis Sounds encapsulated in this compilation, in the company of many of the individuals that made this historical project possible. Compilation curator Jon Kirby will be on hand, should curious parties have questions or want greater insight into the realization of this expansive CD/LP set. We will have CD and LP copies of Purple Snow for sale, and The Depot Tavern will be serving beverages, plus a full menu. The event is free to the public, but space is limited and early arrival is encouraged.
